Dedham Public Schools will be hosting our second annual District Curriculum Night on OCTOBER 24, from 6:30-8:00 at Dedham Middle School! This informative evening is an opportunity for parents and caregivers for students PreK - 12 to learn more about current school curriculum, hear from department leaders and educators on topics including Report Cards, Social Emotional Supports, best practices for supporting students and post-DHS planning.
Advance registration for sessions is preferred, so we can ensure that all sessions have space. Additionally, we need to plan for childcare coverage if that is something you'd like to take advantage of during the event.

To better align with educational goals and ensure that report cards clearly reflect student learning, the DPS Office of Teaching & Learning is in the process of developing a new standards-based elementary report card that will be ready to launch by the Fall of 2025. To ensure we create a report card that works for everyone, the process begins with gathering feedback from teachers and families.
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month - September 15th - October 15th - we've compiled some amazing resources to help our students and families learn more about the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

Dedham Public Schools is thrilled to announce a new partnership with William James College to provide our teachers with a unique professional development opportunity. Thanks to our ongoing relationship with the college, William James College is offering their new Mental Health Graduate Certificate program to Dedham teachers at no cost. This program is specifically designed to equip educators with the skills and knowledge needed to support the mental health and well-being of their students.
Dedham Public Schools will continue to receive FREE school meals in School Year 2024-2025, and in all future years. This means that breakfast and lunch will continue to be served at no cost to all students. Your student can receive 1 FREE complete breakfast and 1 FREE complete lunch each school day.
The 2024 - 2025 Integrated Preschool program at the Dedham Curran Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) as will be hosting a Friendship Screening Day on Friday, September 6, 2024 to meet with preschool aged students interested in joining the preschool program at the ECEC. Any child residing in Dedham, who will be at least 3.5 years old as of September 1, 2024, is eligible to be considered for these limited additional openings in the 3-day preschool classroom for the 2024-2025 school year beginning this Fall. RSVP required.
Kindergarten students are learning songs about frogs in Miss O'Shea's music class! This cross-curricular lesson plan includes elements of language and science, which supports our school-wide goal of play-based learning across academic disciplines.
For the past two years, the ECEC has been working with the Special Olympics of MA to be a Unified Champion School. As part of this initiative, we have pledged to make a commitment to support Inclusive Youth Leadership, Whole School Engagement and Unified Sports.
It's never too soon to start thinking about the next school year!! Yellow bus transportation is available to every eligible Dedham student.
This week in Ms Lynch's Kindergarten class we are reading the story "Make Way For Ducklings" by Robert McCloskey. We used this book to learn about the four story elements: characters, setting, problem and solution.
Kristen Cannon has been selected to fill the role of Principal of the Thomas J. Curran Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) as of July 1, 2024. Kristen has served the District for 25 years in a number of roles, most recently stepping in this year at the ECEC as Interim Principal.
