District Curriculum Night

Thanks to the parents and educators who participated in our District Curriculum Night at the end of October. The evening was able to provide over 20 sessions on relevant topics for students in PreK - 12. Given the interactive nature of the sessions, not all sessions are able to be made available as presentations or able to be recorded to view post-event. Those sessions with presentations that can be shared are now available!

Notes from the Nurses

The CDC is reporting an uptick in pediatric pneumonia cases. These could be caused by a virus or a bacteria such as Mycoplasma pneumoniaeWhen children experience cold symptomsthey are typically mild, caused by a virus, and resolve on their own. However, if your child has a lingering cough with or without fever and unusual fatigue, please have them evaluated by a provider. In some cases, children will need to take antibiotics to clear up the infection.

Dedham Public Schools will be hosting our second annual District Curriculum Night on OCTOBER 24, from 6:30-8:00 at Dedham Middle School! This informative evening is an opportunity for parents and caregivers for students PreK - 12 to learn more about current school curriculum, hear from department leaders and educators on topics including Report Cards, Social Emotional Supports, best practices for supporting students and post-DHS planning.

Advance registration for sessions is preferred, so we can ensure that all sessions have space. Additionally, we need to plan for childcare coverage if that is something you'd like to take advantage of during the event.

To better align with educational goals and ensure that report cards clearly reflect student learning, the DPS Office of Teaching & Learning is in the process of developing a new standards-based elementary report card that will be ready to launch by the Fall of 2025. To ensure we create a report card that works for everyone, the process begins with gathering feedback from teachers and families.
